Not all mushroom supplements are created equally. We only use the 100% mushroom fruiting body for our extracts. All mushrooms are wild or semi wild cultivated in tree/wood substrate at mountain areas, far away from pollution. Many mushroom supplements on the market are extracts from mycelium cultivated on a grain substrate. This process involves putting cooked grain into a plastic bag and sterilizing it in a giant pressure cooker called an autoclave. Then the sterile grain is inoculated [injected] with mycelium of the desired fungal species. Inside the plastic bag, the mycelium will then grow out on the grain and create an inseparable white mass. Once the mycelium growth is complete, the mycelium and the grain are harvested together, dried and extracted. This myceliated grain is sold as a “mushroom” ingredient but it actually contains no mushrooms.
